Karina Garcia, 14, is currently a freshman at Hoover High School and in the LEAD Academy.
An excellent student all throughout her elementary and middle school years, she continues to grow her skills. She is an active student but also enjoys taking a step back and having some rest time.
During middle school she took part in the Cesar Chavez Club for about a year. She learned and developed excellent leadership skills and had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. Karina not only uses these skills in school but she also mentors those whom she is close to. Karina enjoys taking part in programs that help and benefit her academically.
Karina is currently a part of the Girls Flag Football team, because she was also part of a team during her last year at Clark Middle School. She is also a team member of a girls soccer team outside of Hoover. She’s shown commitment and hard work as an athlete. Through this, Karina has gained an important skill, that being time management. Balancing both school work and sports is something she applauds herself for.
Karina is interested in becoming a lawyer after she finishes high school, or working in the criminal justice field. Karina talks about her desires to help implement change in her community. Such as, being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. She hopes to find solutions to the negative impacts in her community.
Karina wants to fill her community with kindness because she states “Kindness is something a lot of people lack.”
