You can still enjoy Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a valentine. If you will be spending Valentine’s Day alone this year, here are 10 things for you to do by yourself or with friends.
1) Have a Spa Day at Home – Have a hot spa day at home. Grab a face mask, some bath bombs, and some salts. For aromatherapy grab some candles or essential oils. Some scents I would recommend are lavender, chamomile, sandalwood, and vanilla. Lavender can reduce stress, chamomile can calm anxiety and improve sleep quality, sandalwood can help reduce stress and anxiety, and vanilla can help comfort and soothe you. To set the mood, using candles will help bring a soft glow. For background noises play a quiet and relaxing playlist or nature sounds.
2) Take Yourself on a Date – Some places you can go to are Palmy’s Cafe is a cozy, Australian-inspired cafe known for its coastal vibe and is located in Pacific Beach, San Diego. A great place for food is 99 Ranch Market food court which features Chinese BBQ, noodle houses, boba teas, dumplings, and is a great place to go solo.
3) Dive Into A Hobby or Learn Something New – Some fun paints you can use are acrylic paint, oil paint, and watercolors. Learn to use a piano, the guitar, and maybe even a DJ controller. Learn to cook a new recipe, to start off your day, make yourself a scrambled egg toast, a nice grilled cheese sandwich for a snack, and a chicken stir fry for dinner.
4) Get Outdoors – Go for a hike to improve your mood. Movement can help release serotonin and dopamine which can improve your mood. Take a bike ride around your neighborhood or take a walk in a nearby park to reduce stress and to think of whatever you want to do next in your life and to think of many different ways to meet your goals.
5) Unplug and CozY Up – Disconnect from social media and do something more productive and motivate yourself. You can also grab a new book to entertain yourself and raise empathy by introducing you to new points of view and information. You can also just binge watch your favorite movies or shows, have fun and enjoy yourself.
6) Write a Love Letter to Yourself – Writing yourself a love letter can help boost your confidence, self-esteem and helps encourage self-compassion. Writing a love letter to yourself can also help prevent negative self-talk and feeling bad for yourself.
7) Host Movie Night – Hosting movie night and inviting your friends can help you feel more connected with those around you on such a special day even when at first you feel lonely. Watching movies can help you find out what your friends are mostly interested in.
8) Cook a Group Meal – Cooking with a group of friends helps entertain you and others, bond with them, as well as helping you learn a new skill. It can also help strengthen your friendships and help in collaboration.
9) Host Karaoke – Karaoke can help boost your confidence and your mood. It can also help you with social-bonds. Singing with your friends can also help you loosen up and forget about your worries. When singing in front of your encouraging friends can help you overcome your shyness and fears. Another way it can be useful is by helping you find out your friends interests in music.
10) Host Game Night – Hosting a game night can help you and your friends’ friendship grow stronger. Some popular boardgames are Taco Goat Cheese Pizza, Jenga, Monopoly, or flashcard games from a popular or favorite tv show or movie.
