Instagram is a popular social media platform that was designed for people to share their pictures, videos, and stories with other people in the app. One can also text friends or family members and connect with influencers as well as brands to collaborate with.
There are many reasons why I use this app, to share funny and relatable reels with my siblings, for entertainment, or even looking up, upcoming events at Hoover by looking at the Hoover High School account (cardinalpride_hhs) which is a student-monitored account. Sometimes I even use it to look for a way to make something or fix something since there are many helpful people on the internet who like to show people and help them. But my main use of instagram is to look for reviews on a product before choosing to buy it.
The reason I, like many others, use this app is to see other people’s honest reviews about products, but we can’t always depend on them since people can collaborate with brands and could possibly lie about a good review so they can get other brands to sponsor them. Through doing so some people can gain more money from these brands since they will get paid for false representations. There are only a number of people who don’t collaborate with other brands and actually give us an honest review and show us how that product actually works. A way to find those who are possibly giving false reviews is to look for reels that say ad or sponsored. Two Instagram accounts that I follow and are mostly known for giving honest reviews are @Gelcream and @Dave2D.
Even though this app, like many other social media platforms, can be distracting, it can be of great help when it comes to looking for honest reviews, as long as one is careful and aware of possibly false information.
