Sleep is one of the most important things for teens because it affects everything in our everyday lives. Teenagers go through a lot mentally, physically, and emotionally, that’s why we should be getting enough sleep. I’ve noticed that if I’m not getting enough sleep as much as I want I tend to get annoyed easily the next morning, I feel tired, and then I don’t have any motivation to do anything at school.
In my opinion, sleep plays a big role in how successful I am during the day, especially at school. When I’m actually well rested, I focus way better in class and stay awake without struggling to keep my eyes open. I feel more productive in finishing my assignments, and pay way more attention to what my teachers are saying. On days when I barely sleep, I don’t wanna talk to anyone and sometimes people get the wrong idea assuming I’m upset or something when I’m just tired and trying to make it through the day.
I also think sleep is important because teenagers are still growing and changing. Our bodies and brains are developing, and sleep helps us to stay healthy so that our bodies can function. When I’m sleep deprived, I feel stressed out more and have trouble thinking clearly. It becomes difficult for me to stay positive or have energy to do the simplest things.
Even though I have that temptation to stay up late scrolling through Tiktok or Instagram reels, texting friends, or binge watching tv shows, I think that sleep should be one of the biggest priorities for teens. Staying up late seems fun at the moment, but I’ve realized that getting enough sleep makes me feel better, think better, and do better.
