Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar

Giana Tamantes, Staff Writer

Many African American males/females have made a great impact in society, one of them being; a poet, songwriter, rapper Kendrick Lamar. Lamar is known for his passionate and strong lyrics in every each one of his songs some of them talking about the injustices, “hood politics,” poverty, and pressure in the streets. Kendrick was born in the city of Compton, California on June 17, 1987. Before he became famous and known by his name Kendrick Lamar he was an underground rapper known as K-Dot.

The reason why he’s made such an impact in society is because he speaks from personal experiences therefore is able to write stories that many people can relate to, especially those who have experienced similar things/think the same. Lamar is a very important poet to me because every song I listen to, I’m able to feel what he feels, I’m able to relate. I’m able to understand which to me is very important because not many rappers nowadays rap about the struggles of real life.

Many new/trendy rappers are known as trap rappers, usually rapping about drugs, money, and women. These rappers usually have good beats but trash lyrics in my opinion. But Kendrick has everything: lyrics and good beats.
