Brianna grew up listening to Latin pop and music is a big part of her life. She strives to learn how to play as many instruments as she can, and has tried the clarinet, guitar, piano, xylophone, and drums. Besides learning to play instruments, Brianna likes to draw. In her spare time, she draws many funny drawings to make her friends and family laugh. Brianna takes school seriously since her life goal since elementary has been to go to college because her parents didn’t get the opportunity to do so. To make this goal a reality, she has joined various first generation college prep clubs like Reality Changers and Wahupa. Both these clubs help low income students seek higher education, by hosting events that educate not only students but also their families on how to prep for higher education. Brianna strives to go to a four-year university where she wants to major in either psychology or child development. Her dream job would be a pediatric occupational therapist because she wants to change the world one child at a time. Brianna believes that with her future work she could create a world in which children who needed a bit of extra help can feel confident in themselves to step out into the world. Brianna believes that society can become better if they respect, protect, and love children for who they are.

Emily Garcia is a 16-year-old junior at Hoover High School and has been in yearbook for two years. Music, fashion, and films are things that Emily enjoys the most. She enjoys listening to music daily and is always open to new genres or music suggestions. Her current favorite artists are Clairo, The Cranberries, and Fleetwood Mac. Her favorite song is “Hella Good” by No Doubt. In Emily’s free time, she enjoys shopping with her mom and loves to express herself by wearing different styles of clothing. She loves to watch all kinds of films especially the fantasy and romance genres. Her favorite movie is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and she also likes to collect dvds of her all-time favorite movies. Emily’s top favorite food is pepperoni pizza and her favorite drink is Coca Cola. She says the food that she dislikes the most is sushi because she does not like any sort of sea food. Some of her future goals are to walk the stage at graduation and get her graduation diploma. She plans to attend SDSU or a community college and later on transfer to a four year. She hopes that she will be able to get a major in education so that she can become an elementary teacher and make a difference in kids’ lives. Her role models in life are her mom and cousin. Emily’s cousin has become an inspiration to her and one of the reasons why she wants to become a teacher. She hopes that she will make her whole family proud and be the first one in her family to attend college. Emily thinks she can change the world by bringing awareness to climate change and bringing a stop to it and also stopping conflicts with other countries. She says if society were empathetic towards one another and treated each other with kindness and respect then the world may become a better place.
