Honesty is a word you frequently hear in your life, and has such a strong meaning, but not many people use it in their everyday life.
Honesty is the quality of being honest, which is someone who is truthful and sincere in their actions and words. Many brush off the importance of honesty and frequently lie to their friends and family, and this does a huge disservice to those people.
To me, honesty is more than just telling the truth. It’s the fact that I’m not lying to the peers I care about, and not going to lie to their faces and break their hearts. For many people, honesty is also an important quality; the idea of being truthful to your friends, family, or relationships is important because if you were in their shoes, would you like to be lied to? Probably not. Lying is something that hurts people, and makes them feel betrayed.
Although the quality of being honest is correct and more truthful, there are moments where you shouldn’t share the truth. Hiding the truth could be for the safety of others. These are called white lies, and they are used as a tactic to not hurt someone’s feelings or to keep something small and innocent hidden. But why would I encourage white lies when the truth is better told?
There are going to be moments in life where you are going to protect your friends or family feelings from something, but this isn’t a big lie. This would be a small lie like telling them their perfume smells good when in reality it doesn’t. No huge harm, but it’s small enough to protect someone’s feelings and lie about. But what if the truth was told?
Honesty is something that everyone should pursue in life. It has helped me be honest when talking with my friends and family in order to avoid problems and it’s just a correct act because I love them. Always tell the truth to people no matter what, but if it’s just a tiny white lie, then rarely do it for your sake and for others too.
