Hoover High School located in the neighborhood of City Heights, San Diego, California offers an opportunity for its students to make up any absences or tardies.
Saturday school occurs from eight in the morning and ends at noon, leaving students with the chance to clear up four absences, equivalent to one full day of absences or five tardies. If you’re interested, Saturday school takes place in the library and in the cafeteria, students can act productively and do missing assignments or complete any homework. In addition, getting your assignments done means having better grades than the typical student who only comes to school Monday through Friday. Also, if you find yourself struggling with any school subject there are a variety of teachers available at Saturday school that are available to offer tutoring. Additionally, while attending Saturday school students are given the chance to complete coloring pages to get extra tardies taken off their roster, apart from the already five tardies each session provides.
Making sure your absences and tardies are cleared is extremely crucial, especially for seniors. Being a senior means having more school events like homecoming, prom, and grad nite, if you exceed the limit of absences are tardies you will not be able to attend these events and have fun with your peers. Even if you’re not a senior it can still prevent students from participating in other school events or celebrations. Although, seniors are the ones that feel most affected by this policy since now suddenly every school event becomes bittersweet, experiencing everything one final time before the transition to college. Therefore, if you want to secure a spot to any school event or if you want to be involved make sure to clear any absences or tardies that can affect your chances of participating in outside activities. If you still have any questions about Hoover’s Saturday school you can contact Ms. Diana, at the front desk.
