Billie Eilish is the woman that has inspired me and many others till this day. Eilish’s music wasn’t the only thing that made her stand out to me; it was that she stayed loyal to herself no matter what and I really admire that because there’s not many artists who are like that anymore. Looking at the music industry, a lot of them feel the pressure to fit a certain image, Eilish though is different.
At just the age of 15, Eilish became famous for her song “Ocean Eyes,” and since then she became one of the biggest artists ever. She won many Grammy Awards, wrote and performed a James Bond theme song, and even with all her accomplishments, continued to be real and honest with her fans, especially when it comes to things like mental health, body image and society.
If I had to say one thing that really inspires me about Eilish it would be how she challenges beauty standards. For example, you would mostly see her wear baggy clothing so that people wouldn’t judge her body, and she has spoken on how women are always being criticized for their looks. I really believe this makes Eilish a role model for girls who feel like they have to look the same in order to be accepted but she shows that it’s okay to be different though and that you don’t have to change to fit in.
“Depression doesn’t go away, it just gets better.” ~ Billie Eilish
This quote means a lot for someone like me because I’ve had really bad depression before and reading this quote reminds me that even when life gets hard, there are still long ways for improvement.
