Toby Whittaker is a bold senior at Hoover taking action for their passion and well-being that can inspire others to do the same for what they love.
For three years, Toby was associated with the health academy at Hoover, keeping up with its rigorous requirements that limited his class options. As of his senior year, Toby hasn’t been assigned to any academy after the confident decision to give up the AHHS commitment for an expanded schedule that’ll permit his passion for music as a marching and pep band member. Toby can confidently say that he’s happy with where he is in life. Despite his grades being slightly lower, he’s proud to maintain a more balanced life with most A’s, his passion for music, and an improved mental health.
Music isn’t where the action stops; he’s involved in Cardinals Interact and GSA, where he expresses his ideas and receives help with academics while being a good sport toward others. You can spot Toby on campus performing catchy tunes or sharing a laugh with some friends, setting a welcoming environment. Toby’s birthday is on May 1st, which is a bonus representation of how Toby knows what comes first!
“School means becoming a functional person in society, and having the tools to stand up to the powers that be,” expressed Toby.
