Ever since I was a little girl, I loved, loved, loved seafood. My favorite places to go out for dinner were seafood restaurants and out of all seafoods I liked, sushi the best.

One Friday afternoon, my sister and her boyfriend picked me up from school and asked me where I wanted to go for lunch and what I wanted to eat. I immediately said sushi and they told me they were gonna take me to their favorite sushi place. I asked what it was called and they said it was a place called Sushi Deli. My sister said it was her favorite and I trusted her so I got pretty excited about this place, and it did not disappoint.

As soon as we got there and went inside, I liked the environment. Even though it isn’t super important to most people, I usually hate places that are super loud and have music volumes way too high but this place wasn’t like that. Although the place was busy, we sat down and got our orders taken surprisingly quickly. I ordered a California roll, garlic edamame, fried calamari, and miso soup. My sister and her boyfriend ordered a bento box that included white rice with teriyaki chicken, sushi, mixed tempura, California roll, and miso soup.

They brought out the miso soup first and it was the yummiest soup I’ve ever had. It’s a relatively small bowl of soup but the taste was perfect and it was perfectly hot, too. Next they brought us our actual food and the first thing I tried was the Cali roll, which again, was the yummiest sushi I’ve had. The fried calamari was nice and crispy and paired perfectly with the spicy mayo. The garlic edamame was the best side, I finished the whole bowl pretty much by myself and we had to order a second side of it so my sister could have some as well.

Our waiter was extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall I would rate this place a 10/10, definitely my favorite sushi place ever! Sushi Deli is located in 228 W. Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92013. Definitely give it a try!
