Melanie Ledesma is a 17-year-old Junior currently attending Hoover High School for the 2025-2026 school year.
She enjoys traveling, shopping, and going to concerts. Every year she travels back to her home country, Mexico and goes to Guanajuato and Jalisco. She likes spending time with her family, making sure everyone feels loved and appreciated. In addition, her shopping addiction tends to get out of hand sometimes, spending way more money than she should. As a result, causing her to be a compulsive shopper, later regretting her purchases but too lazy to return any of it. To add on, her love for concerts also contributes to her bad spending habits, spending hundreds of dollars at a time in order to get a good seat. Her all-time favorite concert that she has ever attended was Junior H, who is a Mexican singer-songwriter. During this concert she got very sentimental, and sang her heart out to all of her favorite songs.
She believes society can change and people can learn to love, forgive, and care for each other. She thinks it is important to learn to love even your enemies, making the world a better place. Also, she has dreams of being able to help her community and those less fortunate, once she reaches a position of financial stability. This is because she has witnessed the struggle people in poverty face, especially those living in Mexico, where it’s harder to receive help. She feels that presently, most people aren’t grateful for the things they have when someone else is praying for them. In the end, Melanie stands by helping others and never judging anyone, since no one is perfect.
Melanie plans on attending San Diego State University.
