Graduation Requirements

Graduated from a high school is really important for a better future.  Hoover students are required to pass a variety of courses if they want to graduate. Another important factor is getting good citizenship which shows your future college that you are capable to act mature in a class setting.  This means no Us on your transcript. You also will need to pass the A-G requirements, which are:

  1. 2 years of History/Social Science(4 credits)
  2. 4 years of English(8 credits)
  3. 3 years of Mathematics (6 credits) but it is recommended you to take all 4 years.
  4. 2 years of Laboratory Science(4 credits)
  5. 2 years of Language other than English(4 credits)
  6. 1 year of Visual and Performing Arts(2 credits)
  7. 1 year of College Prep Electives(2 credits)

Students will start the requirements beginning of their ninth grade year. Students need at least a 2.0 to graduate from Hoover High School with no ‘F’, and if they do then they need to make it up the missing credit. Even though the A-G requirements only added up to 30 credits, you will need to have 44 credits to graduate. Attendance is also one of the requirements for students to be satisfied to graduate; having bad attendance will not be accepted and it’s critical to make good habits now so that in the future you’ll be able to make early classes or work.
