Consistency is the key

Consistency+is+the+key

As a student enrolled at Hoover High School, I’ve seen a few things that might really help our school right now. One of the changes would be how people see the school. Hoover has a lot of exciting things happening, but not everyone knows about it. Let me start by saying that Hoover has something for everyone in terms of education and activities. Whether you love sports, arts, technology, or medicine, there is something for you here. Our teachers and staff truly care about each one of us and are always willing to help. That is something special about Hoover.

However, some people have assumptions when it comes to our school. Some may believe we are unsafe or have little to offer. To change this, we must reach out to our community more. It would be great to host events where families could come in and learn more about what we do. We could additionally work with local businesses or groups to demonstrate how we positively impact our local community. Sharing success stories is another successful strategy for changing people’s opinions. Highlighting the achievements of our alumni and present students can show what Hoover is capable of. When people see how much of an influence we make, they could start seeing us differently.

But what Hoover can use is consistency.  Each teacher should contribute to the perception of the school as a whole.  Each teacher should show pride and enthusiasm which their students will see and feel.  Students notice these things.  Hoover also has some lazy teachers, and some are even mean.  They just hurt the reputation of Hoover.  I hope things can be better but only if there’s consistency.

Emanuel Cruz is a junior at Hoover High School. He was born on April 13, raised in San Diego, California, by his parents who immigrated to live the American Dream. He has two older siblings but he will be the first one in his family to graduate from Hoover, as the class of 2025. He also has two cats that he treasures and loves. He doesn’t really have a plan after high school but does want to attend SDSU. He wishes to have a career and is inspired by both his sister and brother.

Outside of school he enjoys watching movies and of course playing video games. His current favorite movies are Everything Everywhere All At Once, Interstellar, and La La Land. As for his video games, they are Roblox, Good Pizza Great Pizza, and Mario Kart 8. But something else that he absolutely loves is FOOD! His favorite dish is chilaquiles with a cold glass of Iced Tea.

He hopes to work in the medical field, but can’t decide on which career. What he does know is that he wants to help people whether that be helping them physically or mentally. He is currently in FACES and in Cardinals Interact which are programs that will expose him to decide which career is the best option for him.
