Apiew Abella
Apiew Abella is a senior at Hoover High School. She was born in Gambella, Ethiopia where violence has escalated to the point where it caused people like Apiew and her family to leave home for safety. Luckily they made it to a refugee camp and they were able to petition to go to the United States as refugees. At the age of nine, Apiew and her family moved here to California, where she started school. Apiew wants to be an artist when she grows up. She is very talented and has a strong love for art. She was just a kid when she started drawing. After high school, Apiew will be going to the Academy Of Art University in San Francisco. Some of the things that Apiew is involved in at school is the Hoover Peace Council where they organized the Peace Conference Against Gun Violence.  She designed the t-shirt for the program. She’s in the Young Women's Club, Bible Club, and after school painting on Tuesdays. Some of the things Apiew likes to do is watch tv, draw, sing, take pictures of people, video editing, story writing, and softball. Apiew doesn’t have a favorite type of music she listens to all kinds. During her free time she likes to write fiction stories and watch Netflix.
