Thanksgiving Break is coming up and what better to do than to sit back and relax at home and watch movies. Finding good fitting movies for the holidays is hard, so here are ten movies you can watch to entertain you and your family over the break.
The first movie is A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. This movie is a family movie that all ages can enjoy. It follows Charlie Brown and his sidekick Snoopy through the adventure of cooking Thanksgiving dinner. This film is a cute short watch that includes animation from the 70s.
The second movie is Knives Out. This film is a longer watch with a 2h 10min duration. This film consists of a murder mystery where a detective considers the entire family. This movie includes everything a movie should, a little bit of comedy, mystery, thriller and of course crime.
The third movie on the list is The Great Gilly Hopkins. This heartfelt film follows Gilly as she settles into a new foster home. Her negative experiences make her act out and isolate herself afraid to get hurt again. However this changes after she meets her new family, she endures hardships and learns to let go of the past.
The fourth movie on the list is The Blind Side. Another heartfelt film on the list that makes you reflect and appreciate your loved ones. This movie is an adaptation of Quinton Aron’s life, as main character Michael goes from a homeless teen to a loved son in a caucasian family. His good character is rewarded by transforming his life for the better.
The fifth movie on the list is Mall Cop. This film is a classic comical film that follows a dad who works as a mall cop to make ends meet. His colleagues are not as enthusiastic about their job but he does. An opportunity arises for him to show off his skills and talent. I highly recommend this film if you are looking for a good laugh.
Following the comedy genre, the next film on the list is Jack and Jill. This film stars Adam Sandler. His character hates the holidays as this means his sister Jill will make an appearance. Adam Sandler also plays Jill, however his sister’s visit must be extended after Thanksgiving as she lands a commercial gig. This film ensures laughter and a good time alongside good company.
In honor of Wicked For Good coming out November 22, another movie on your list to watch should be Wicked, the first part. This film is the perfect holiday movie following the themes of family and self identity. This musical has watchers hooked for the many twists and turns that are shown throughout the film. If you have seen or heard of The Wizard of Oz than you know of the wicked witch, and watching Wicked gives you the proper perspective to the Wicked Witch and who she truly was.
Another popular movie to watch over the break is Spiderman. This film is commonly watched throughout the holidays and a fan favorite for many. This film will leave you at the edge of your seat as any action movie should. Even if you’ve seen it already, Spiderman is a movie that you can rewatch over and over again and never get tired of it.
If you are more into romance movies then I recommend watching The Holiday. This film follows two female leads who need a break from their lives. After signing themselves up for a house switch, they decide to spend a week at each other’s houses. One lead lives in the UK and the other in Los Angeles. With this new adventure they are shown what life has to offer and take time to reflect on how their lives have turned out.
The last film on this list is none other than CoCo. This family friendly movie is a perfect watch for all ages. It follows Miguel on his journey through the Land of the Dead as he searches for his great-great grandfather. This emotional rollercoaster of a movie will leave you with tears and move you. This film is a perfect watch for Thanksgiving.
I hope this list of movie recommendations will help you find what to do throughout the break and hopefully leave you with a new favorite movie. Enjoy your break and Happy Thanksgiving!
