One of my favorite groups has to be Wave to Earth. Their songs make me feel calm and heartfelt. When I listen to their music, it feels like I can calm down and not have to worry about anything that is on my mind. Their soft style of music helps me relax and even makes me feel understood when I do not have the words to express myself. What I love about their music is that it feels simple but yet meaningful.
Wave to Earth is a South Korean band that was formed in 2019. The group is made out of three members, Kim Daniel, who is the lead vocalist and guitarist, Shin Dongkyu on drums, and Cha Soonjong on bass. They are mostly known for their blending indie rock, jazz inspired sounds, and lo-fi.
Wave to Earth was formed when Daniel and Dongkyu were in middle school. From the very beginning their goal was to make music that feels like “a new wave,” something that is natural and emotional, which is also how they got their name. They debuted with the single “Wave” on August 23, 2019, with a new member Cha Soonjong
In the beginning, Wave to Earth has been an independent group slowly getting attention from online performances and also live performances. Instead of them following mainstream bands, they like to focus on making new music that feels personal and authentic. This is how they were able to create a loyal fanbase, especially among listeners who enjoy chill and introspective music.
While Wave to Earth has not won any major awards yet, they have received growing recognition in the indie music scene and they have successfully toured all internationally. Their popularity continues to rise as they become more known due to their unique sound.
Overall, Wave to Earth stands out to me because their music feels genuine, peaceful, and timeless, making them a group I always enjoy listening to.
