Born on February 20, 2003, Olivia Isabel Rodrigo is a famous singer-songwriter who got her start as an actress.
Rodrigo is Filipino American and was raised in Temecula, California by her mother who was a teacher, and her father who was a family therapist. When she was five, she began taking voice lessons and a few years later followed up with acting and piano lessons. When Rodrigo was seven, she made her first TV appearance on an Old Navy commercial.
Rodrigo landed her first acting role in An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success, where she played the title character. A year later she got a role in Bizaardvark, a Disney Channel show where she was one of the main characters. When the show ended in 2019, she booked a role in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which started to garner her a lot of attention. She sang many songs and people really liked listening to her.
When the show concluded its third season, Rodrigo decided to leave the show and fully pursue a music career. In 2021 she released “Drivers License” which became an instant hit. The song and her first album Sour, would go on to break many records such as the first album on Spotify to have every song be streamed over 200 million times. She began her tour, the Sour Tour, in April of 2022 and her final show was in July of the same year.
Two years after the release of her debut album Rodrigo released Guts. Her second album was received very well and praised by many. She began her Guts World Tour in February of 2024 and it will conclude in 2025. Along with the tour Rodrigo established her Fund 4 Good initiative where she focuses on helping non-profit organizations that help women. From all the proceeds she receives from ticket sales, a portion goes to the Fund 4 Good initiative.
Olivia Rodrigo is one of my favorite music artists because she is a really good songwriter and a great performer. I enjoy the way she uses her personal experiences to make relatable music. Her concerts also look really fun because she always has so much energy.
